ENHANCEMENT
Shaping the fast Ashanti rings in the negative, directly in the clay, is like shaping a vision in a void.
After firing, many of these cast pure silver rings were not as successful as I had hoped they would be, but I still hesitated to melt them down.
A few years later, these rejected rings caught my attention. To emphasise their character, I enhanced them with pure gold, rough black diamonds, freshwater pearls or a golden coin shot through the middle.
Avoiding soldering, I bound, wrapped, tied and mounted these enhancements, pushing them through and over the rings.
It was an act of reiteration, of bejewelling a jewel.
