AESKULAP

Aeskulap, Johanna Dahm

Necklace, Aeskulap | chrome-plated brass, rubber, 60 x 29 cm, 1986

A necklace usually needs a fastener, discreetly hidden behind the neck.

My aim was to join two ends as a deliberate optical statement.

At that time, playing with the essential elements of line, spiral, arch and angle, the obvious solution was to slip the line into the spiral. This combination, which works efficiently in either direction, is both the fastener and the visual content.
