The closed-cycle lost-wax casting technique, found exclusively among the Ashanti in Ghana, West Africa and the Dokra in East India, is an ideal theme for workshops.

It requires no machines, only wax, clay, coal, metal, an oil barrel for the furnace and a bellows.

I introduced this technique to my Pforzheim University students at regular summer workshops in Ticino, Switzerland, and was happy to conduct many more at institutions worldwide.
A question to the many individuals it has been my privilege to teach: How could a professor possibly hope to learn more without students
