DISAPPEARING SILVER
Musing on the catches hidden behind brooches, I began to question their necessity. Clothing serves merely to support the brooch. The brooch has an eye-catching front surface and a neglected rear side. It is the only form of jewellery that has no contact with the skin and is therefore an outsider.
Using a single silver wire of the same thickness, interwoven or slipped over the fabric edge, causes convex / concave structures to appear. Both contribute equally.
Even if the shiny, precious metal is completely hidden, the unity of form, function and visual effect is manifest.
