INBETWEENFINGERthing

InbetweenfingerThing | Perspex, rubber cord, 3.7 x 3.7 x 7 cm, 1985

MUDAC in Lausanne, Switzerland, commissioned me to design a multiple for the museums’ shop on the occasion of an exhibition entitled “Bijoux d’aujourd’hui / Johanna Hess Dahm, Carole Guinard”.

My aim was to make a ring that suits all finger sizes. Something that fits between and not around the finger solved the problem. A flexible Neoprene cord between the fingers holds the two Perspex pieces together, and the size can be adjusted simply by moving the knot up or down.

I welcomed the fact that the “InbetweenfingerThing” is, at first sight, not recognisable as a finger ring.
